How to Prolong a Trip

Do you have a rental car through HoppyGo, and the return time is approaching but you would like to extend the rental? You no longer have to call the info line. The extension can be handled directly in the application. How to do this from the driver’s point of view and how to accept the extension request from the owner’s point of view?

I am a driver and I want to extend my rental

Rides that start within 24 hours, or are currently in progress, can be found on the main page in the application. Confirmed rentals that start in more than a day can be found in the “Trips“ tab. After clicking on the “Details“ button, you will be taken to the booking details where you can change the booking date.

Choose the date to which you want to extend the loan

In the calendar, choose the date and time until which you want to extend the loan. The calendar will show you only days the vehicle is still free or is no longer available. The lower left section will show the renewal price, including the insurance costs you chose when booking the car.

Leave a short message to the owner and send the extension request. It’s now waiting  for confirmation from the extension by the owner. The owner has 24 hours to confirm. After sending and renewing, you can always return to your request or view the loan information.

Tip for drivers: Is the end of the rental looming? We recommend that you contact the owner by phone as soon as possible to see if they would agree to the extension, and then send the request.  This will speed up the approval.

What if I want to cancel an extension request?

If the owner has not yet accepted the request for an extension, you can cancel it at any time.

YAY! My request for an extension has been confirmed

The owner has accepted the request for an extension? Cool beans. At this point, the details of the rental will be updated.  The money for the extension will be auto-deducted from your card and you can continue using the car.

Tip for drivers: Make sure you have enough funds on the card. If the renewal payment is not made, the renewal request will be cancelled automatically and the original return deadline will still apply.

Oh no!  The owner refused my request for an extension

If the owner refuses the extension, or the time (24 hours) has elapsed for their reaction, your request will be automatically cancelled and it is necessary to return the vehicle on the original booking date!

Pay attention! The extension must always be confirmed through the application. It is not enough to have only a verbal confirmation between the driver and the owner.

I am the owner and I received a request to extend the rental period

As with an original rental request, you will receive a notification requesting an extension of the loan through the HoppyGo app. If you have notification notifications turned off, we will also send you an SMS message just in case.

Tip for owners: We recommend that you leave notification notifications turned on for these purposes.

Where can I find an extension request in the app?

There are three locations in the app where you can find requests from drivers for rental extension:

  • On the main page of your upcoming events, click on “Trip Details“,
  • In the My Car section under the “Incoming Requests“ section,
  • In the chat with the driver, where you will also see his message about the extension.

Whichever path you choose, you’ll always see a confirmation box asking you to accept or decline.

Pay Attention! Do you have instant booking or automatic confirmation set up? Instant booking is not applied to rental extension requests.

What will be your additional earnings for the extension?

You will see the amount for extending the rental directly in the details of the extension request or in the chat. This amount consists only of the price of the extended days.
