Where to go for the best skiing in the Czech Republic

This winter has not yet delivered any real snow, but mountain resorts are busy making snow, so don’t be afraid to go skiing. Whether you are looking for a winter holiday or just a free weekend, it is worthwhile to go skiing or snowboarding on one of the Czech ski slopes. If you’re hesitate and don’t know where to go this year, maybe you can be inspired by our tips.

Remember to choose and book the right car. What to watch out for in our article How to choose the right car for the mountains. For a large family, we recommend the seven-seater Volkswagen Multivan with an automatic transmission and a roof box.

FOR EXPERIENCED SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS

Have you been born with skis on your feet and are attracted to steep hills? Go to Šumava, specifically to the slope Šance na Špičáku near Železná Ruda. In addition to its 100% or 45 ° slope at the steepest point, it is sometimes quite narrow in the straights, making it one of the most challenging slopes in the country.

ON THE LONGEST RUNS IN KRKONOŠ (GIANT MOUNTAINS)

Do you enjoy the endlessly long alpine slopes, but are you always running out of ski runs? Try the longest Czech ski run from Lysá hora in Rokytnice nad Jizerou (the blue tourist piste in particular). You will enjoy more than three kilometers long descent, with an elevation of 650 m and still enjoy the magnificent view of the Podkrkonoší. Do not forget to slide down to the neighboring red, only one kilometer shorter.

In the Giant Mountains we must not forget the famous Špindl. You can choose from several ski resorts, such as Medvedin, Svaty Petr, Misecky or Hromovka. Our favorite is the track called FIS World Cup, which is not only forgivingly wide but also steep (62%). In addition to skiing, Špindlerův Mlýn is also a delighted with no lack of social life in the mountains.

FAMILIES AND FAMILY COMFORT

Do you have little time and do not want to deprive yourself and your children of winter fun? Set off a short trip beyond Prague to Chotoun. This location can be especially appreciated by families as there you will find a training course, a plate lift and a gentle slope.

Also, don’t think that Lipno is only for summer visits? The surroundings of our largest water reservoir is a paradise for families with children even in winter. Here you will find a large free educational playground where you can safely teach your first steps. The slopes are mild in nature and are served by three chair lifts.

SKIING BETWEEN VINICEMI

The lowest ski run in Němčičky in South Moravia is considered almost legendary. Even in the absence of natural snow here you can ski on artificial surface. You will glide through the sleeping vineyard along two red ski slopes at a height of 350 meters in elevation.

Czech Republic offers ski resorts for all ages and levels of ski ability, so you have a great selection. Do you want to go to the mountains with a bunch of friends or a large family, but do not have a suitable car in the garage? Book your car on HoppyGo.
