Driver Tips: From Booking to Handover Made Simple

Have you come across HoppyGo and want to try car sharing directly from owners? Or do you already know HoppyGo but still don’t know how some things work? Then you’ll find our tips useful, from making an enquiry to your first car handover from an owner.

TIPS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION

1. Use filters when choosing a car 

Looking for a specific type of car? Filter vehicles by make, body type, transmission, fuel. Are you on a budget? Set your price per day. It’s also easy to search by equipment. Planning a longer trip and need a car with a vignette? Choose from the “Highway Stamp” equipment. Will you be taking the kids? Select “Car seat” and “Isofix”.

2. Take advantage of the possibility to bring a vehicle to the address

One of the most frequently used filters – I want the car delivered to my address. How does it work in reality? When making an enquiry, be sure to mention to the owner in the message that you are interested in having the car delivered. The owner will write you a price for which he is willing to deliver the vehicle. You pay the owner on the spot for the service.

3. Make sensible use of the “Instant Confirmation” filter

Auto-confirmation is a safe bet. But beware, it has its conditions. For instant confirmation to occur, the request must be sent more than 18 hours before the scheduled handover and the rental must start between 8:00 and 20:00.

4. Requesting a car for the weekend in advance

Planning well in advance can mean a better choice of cars and the certainty that the owner will confirm the request. Don’t leave anything for the last minute. For the owner, an incoming reservation means getting the car ready for handover.

TIPS WHEN MAKING AN ENQUIRY

1. More enquiries means more chances for a successful reservation

The more cars you request, the better chances you have of getting a car on your date. Once one owner accepts an enquiry, the rest are automatically cancelled. Money will only be deducted for the first confirmed enquiry.

2. Take advantage of the VAT deduction

Do you want to include the rental expense in your company expenses? Simply fill in your company details in your profile, wait for our verification and all invoices will automatically be issued to the company once the rental is completed.

3. Different prices

Unregistered users are shown the rental price with the average insurance amount. You can then see the exact price after logging in. Why? The insurance price is individual and is calculated based on your age, rating on HoppyGo, the performance of the vehicle you are enquiring about and other factors.
It may also happen that you are registered and still see a different price than your friend. This is because of the factors affecting the price of insurance. The more you drive with us, the cheaper the insurance price!

4. The loan is calculated by calendar days

Those who are prepared are not surprised. The price for the reservation is calculated according to calendar days. The exception is the first 24 hours. Reservations from Monday 8:00 a.m. to Tuesday 8:00 a.m. are still based on one day. Once you exceed 24 hours, the reservation is calculated on calendar days. For example, Monday 8:00 am to Wednesday 8:00 am is counted as 3 days.

TIPS FOR CAR HANDOVER

1. Ways to communicate with the owner

Remember that the main communication with the owner should be in the HoppyGo app. Contact the owner in chat or get in touch directly with a call via the phone icon.

2. Check the car before handover

Is the indicator light on? Does the tire seem flat? Immediately address everything on the spot with the owner and call HoppyGo support. As the driver, you have the right to refuse to take delivery of the vehicle and we’ll be happy to help you find a replacement. Be sure to take photos of the vehicle as well. They serve as evidence for any complaints at the end of the loan.

3. Confirmation of rental when travelling abroad

Do you have to travel abroad with your rental vehicle, including border control? Ask HoppyGo support to issue a rental confirmation for cross-border inspection purposes.
