If our hills are too small or you just want to be sure of enough snow, go to the mountains abroad. We have fresh powder from the most famous ski resorts from Austria to France. For a longer trip, think about what car to go. Make sure the whole group and all the equipment fit. For a large family, we recommend the nine-seater Volkswagen Caravelle with automatic transmission and roof box.
TO THE NEIGHBORS
Austria is a renowned winter destination, especially since much of the country is covered by the Alps. For example, try out Kitzbühel ski area. Be sure to stop by in Salzburg and buy a good supply of Mozartkugelen, so you have something to nibble on while riding the cable car. Almost 180 kilometers of slopes await you, including the renowned Streit on the Hahnenkam, where the World Cup regularly runs.
WHERE MONARCHS ARE SKIING
We recommend Zürs am Alberg, which is almost to the border with Liechtenstein. In the nineties, Princess Diana enjoyed the slopes, and Princess Caroline of Monaco has also spent some winter holiday here. If you’re looking for a husband or bride with blue blood, here’s your chance. Our secret tip is the neighboring St. Anton am Arlberg with more than 350 kilometers of slopes.
THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHY IN SWITZERLAND
Above-standard services and perfectly groomed slopes – Switzerland is an ideal destination for discerning travelers. From the most famous resorts we recommend Zermatt, which lies at the foot of the photogenic Matterhorn, which is known to everyone who built a Ravensburger’s puzzle in their childhood. In total, they have 360 km of slopes, so you have a whole week to adventure here.
If you don’t like Zermatt, try Verbier, where Prince William also goes. Maybe because in England he wouldn’t experience as many sunny days as here. In this resort you can enjoy the sun on average 250 days a year. Unforgettable will surely be St. Moritz, which is supposedly the cradle of winter holidays. In addition, the Winter Olympic Games have been held here twice. We therefore recommend to all who want to enjoy the feeling of winter holidays just like experienced under the 5 Olympic rings.
MONT BLANC IS A CHALLENGE
From the French winter resorts, do not miss the Val-d’Isère, which is a luxury resort but has an atmosphere typical of alpine villages. You can ski all year round on the local glacier, so you don’t have to wait for the winter months. Val-d´Isère is especially suitable for experienced skiers and active families with children.
Do you know what resort is named the “freeride capital” among seasoned skiers? If you guessed Chamonix, points for you. It is interesting that the first Winter Olympic Games took place in this picturesque alpine town in 1924. In addition, it offers many activities for non-skiers. If Chamonix is not enough for you, take the unique 5 km cable car to Courmayer, the Italian resort of Mont Blanc. Not only for freeride lovers, but also gourmets will be pleased. There are several Michelin ranked restaurants.
JUST LIKE JAMES BOND
If you are wondering where her Majesty’s agent James Bond is skiing, head to the Italian resort of Cortina d´Ampezzo. Here you will find 120 kilometers of slopes. There are three ski areas that are not connected, but you can use the same ski pass in all of them.
Do you know where to enjoy winter fun this year? Before you go, get ready, and good luck. Adjust the bindings, wax the runners of your skis and choose the right car – just click through the filters in the winter equipment as needed, the number of passengers and make the best choice for you. At HoppyGo, we wish you piles of powder and safe driving.
