The best way to photograph your vehicle

The best way to photograph your vehicle

Photos sell. Users often choose the vehicle based on its appearance. And let’s face it, you won´t charm anyone with a blurry photo of a dirty car. So, give it your best shot! Don´t worry, you don’t have to go looking for a reflex camera, your smartphone will be sufficient.

1. WASH THE CAR

Thoroughly wash and clean the car before taking the photos. Focus on the details like the windows being clean. Being picky really pays off!

2. TAKE PHOTOS OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE

You can upload 8 photos into the vehicles profile. So take photos of the car from different angles and don´t forget about the interior. Capture the vehicle from 4 angles; front, left, back, and right sides.

ANGLE 1 – MAIN PHOTO

Use the photo from this angle as the main one. Give this photo your best, the users will see it in the list of cars.

Our tip: Turn the tires to the side to show the car in its best light.

DASHBOARD

Sit in the middle of the back seats and take a photo capturing the view from one pillar to the other.

SEATS

During these shots pay attention to the tidiness and show the users how the seats look in your car.

TRUNK

Don’t leave any things in the trunk and see that the whole open space is in the photos. Remember clean sells.

EQUIPMENT

Don’t forget to also capture any special equipment. This photo can be essential during the drivers decision.

Our tip: Don’t take pictures from above or from below, try to stay at the same level as the front lights.

3. CAREFUL ABOUT THE BACKGROUND

Be cautious concerning the disruptive elements like road signs or other cars. The background should be completely clear. Think about the location in advance and look for clear parkings or accessible open spaces in nature. Park the car on a flat surface, it shouldn’t point downhill.

Our tip: If you cannot find the ideal spot where to take a picture of your car then just zoom in the camera, so that the car takes up to 90 % of the space and stand about 5 meters away from the car to avoid the fish eye effect.

4. LIGHT

Make use of the daylight and take photos during the day. The ideal soft lighting is during the times when it’s cloudy outside. Be cautious about the hard direct lighting – all objects reflect and cast sharp shadows. The ideal time to take photos is during the golden hour – at sunrise and sunset.

5. OTHER TIPS

During the photo session don’t leave your highbeams switched on, the outline and running lights (LED lights) have a softer impact on the photos and don’t over expose the shot. On the other hand for the rear view of the car it’s better with the lights on.
