Insurance price calculation

In order to calculate the insurance price for any loan, you must be logged in to the application. The cost for the insurance is calculated based on several factors, including your driving history, age, and the parameters of the specific car shown in the search. This is a similar process to that of arranging insurance for your own vehicle. 

Without logging in, we cannot calculate the costs associated with the insurance and the rental price will be displayed with a generic estimate for insurance cost. You are notified of this fact by the text below the rental amount. Only after logging in will the amount of insurance be automatically replenished.

Basic and premium insurance

The insurance is standardly provided by HoppyGo’s partner – UNIQA insurance company. It is always arranged for the duration of the car rental and is valid from the moment you receive the message that the payment for the rental was successful. 

Drivers have a choice of two types of insurance: basic and premium. What is the difference between them? With the basic insurance, you must pay a refundable deposit of 5,000 CZK, and in the event of an insured event, a minimum co-payment of 10,000 CZK will be waiting for you. With premium insurance, you will pay a refundable deposit of 1,000 CZK and, in the event of an insured event, a minimum co-payment of 5,000 CZK.

What is included in the insurance? 

Let’s take a look at all the components of the HoppyGo insurance:

  • Accident insurance 

This insurance covers everything from collisions, collisions with animals, falling objects on the car through fire, explosion, lightning strikes, damage after hail, storms or floods. It also includes the intervention of others, for example vandalism, theft of the vehicle and especially its embezzlement. 

  • Window glass insurance

This applies to all the glass on the car. If the damage can be repaired in the Kooperativa service contracts, you can even avoid paying a co-payment, which is otherwise 1,000 CZK. 

  • Spare vehicle insurance 

This insurance is there in case you need a vehicle as a replacement for a car rented on HoppyGo. 

  • Assisting services 

This service includes towing the car to the nearest service center or on-site repair in the event of a breakdown, providing alternative transport or accommodation at the place of the insured event, or the cost of travel back home.

In the event of an accident, the conditions are similar. Towing of the car is only without limit in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. 

What does our insurance not cover 

The list here is relatively short. The insurance does not cover damage to the wheels and tires, and damage caused to the engine or clutch of the vehicle due to improper use, for example by engaging low gear at high speed. 

At the same time, compulsory liability is not part of the provided Kooperativa insurance. This is concluded by the owner and his insurance company, and according to the law, we cannot “re-insure” him for the duration of the loan. 

What is liability insurance and is it needed? 

Liability insurance is a so-calledstupidity insurance“. It covers inconveniences such as spilled coffee in the interior, lost car keys or changing the fuel in the tank. And up to 50,000 CZK with a co-participation of 1,000 CZK. It is valid throughout the EU and costs 100 CZK / day. 

What about the green card? 

The owner is obliged to provide you with a green card and a small technical card before the loan. In case of contactless handover of the car, make sure that these documents are in the car. 

What if the owner does not want to rent a car with HoppyGo insurance? 

This is also an option. If the owner proves to us that his insurance contract allows us to rent the car, HoppyGo will allow the rental. However, it is necessary to take into account that all problem solving then remains with the owner and the driver. HoppyGo cannot guarantee the settlement of insurance claims of such an insured loan. 

Drivers must then keep in mind that the owners’ own insurance conditions may differ from the standard HoppyGo insurance conditions. You can find out more detailed information directly from the owner of a specific car. 

How and where to report an insurance event? 

In the event of an accident, first make sure that no one is injured and, if the situation requires it, follow the necessary procedures such as wearing a reflective vest or unfolding a warning triangle. 

If you are at fault for a car accident, contact the car owner first. With him, you will then report the accident to the UNIQA insurance company. Also, inform our customer care team about the accident using our the infoline +420 220 311 769. 

If it is the fault of others, the damage will be covered by the liability of the person who caused the accident.
